I really struggle to throw anything away, even the scraps of wool from craft projects.
We’ve been collecting them for a few weeks now and put a big bundle out for the birds to use in nest building.
Some went into a wooden bowl in bush, the rest the toddler used to decorate a partially weeded section of the garden.
Toddler spent the rest of the day singing songs about birds building rainbow nests which was very sweet.
And yes, that is one of the prototype Christmas stars that I couldn’t throw away either. Toddler wrapped wool around it the other day and planted it in the garden.
I was in two minds about whether or not to do this as our adopted Tom cat is a particularly efficient hunter and I don’t really want to encourage birds to the garden but then I decided that after the soggy winter we’ve had, they need all the help they can get.
