It’s a very friendly drop in with plenty of professional advice and loads of support from other mums. They regularly have 20 mums attend. The breastfeeding peer supporters have also compiled a wallet sized baby friendly card, that lists a lot of breastfeeding friendly cafes in Exeter, just ask for one!
The Baby Cafe offers a warm welcome to mothers who are breastfeeding and their families. All are welcome to come either with a specific problem or just to meet other mums over a coffee. Everyone knows that breastfeeding is best for mums and babies but breastfeeding is not always easy; however problems are usually easy to solve with the help and support available at Baby Cafe.
There are lots of toys available for babies and toddlers to play with plus tea/coffee and snacks.
Arabella from The Natural Nursery attends some sessions to help parents with their baby slings and real nappies.
We have a limited number of electric breast pumps that we can lend to West Exe clients. It’s a great way of seeing if an electric pump works for you before spending money on one, or to help you out in an emergency. Unfortunately due to high demand we can only let you borrow the pump for a month at a time. We ask for £10.00 (payable in cash or by cheque only) to cover the cost of the sterile pack that comes with it. You get to keep this part which can be turned into a manual pump with the purchase of a convertor kit from the manufacturer. Please ring or come into the centre and ask at reception if we have one available
