There is something so very magical about communities coming together to enjoy a beautiful bonfire and stunning fireworks. Here are 7 Bonfire Night Celebrations and Firework Displays you’ll want to take your children to in Exeter this year.
Firework Spectacular at Crealy, 28th and 29th October
Planned for the October half-term, these two events will see the park open late, DJs from 5pm and fireworks at 6pm.
Fireworks & Bonfire Night at The Double Locks, 4th November
The Double Locks annual event boasts a huge bonfire, incredible fireworks with food and drink on sale so you can make a whole evening of it. Book tickets in advance for a discount.
Fireworks Night, Exeter Golf and County Club, 4th November
As well as a firework display, there will be a children’s Halloween fancy dress disco, children’s rides and stalls, barbecue, hog roast, mulled wine and bars open until late. Open to non-members with tickets.
Firework Night on the River Exe, 4th and 5th November
Stuart Line Cruises organise special sailings up the river so you can enjoy lots of displays all at once. It’s ideal for families as you are away from all the noise yet can still enjoy the magic of the firework displays over Exeter. There’s a heated, covered deck and hot soup if you need to warm up while you are enjoying your trip.
Bonfire Extravaganza at River Dart, 4th November
A trip in the car but you can make a day of it and have fun on the adventure playground and DareDevils during the day before the fire is lit at 6.30. There will be pony rides, bouncy castle and food and drink to buy too.
Tar Barrels of Ottery St Mary, 4th November
Burning barrels of tar being carried around crowded, narrow streets to celebrate a 400-year-old tradition, a huge bonfire, fairground and fireworks make for a night to remember. I have to confess I’ve never been but it’s certainly on my bucket list to do now the children are a bit older.
If you are taking children, please read all the safety information on their website so you can all have an enjoyable evening.
Round Table Charity Fireworks Display, Wespoint Arena, 5th November
Billed as the largest pyro-musical charity firework display in Devon, with all funds raised go to great charities and causes. This year’s theme is “Disney – Be Our Guest” and there is also a large fair with many thrilling rides, a range of food and drink stalls. It’s a huge event please plan your journey using the special buses if you can.
