If you are a new parent, or new to the City, it can be a little tricky finding all the best baby and children shops in Exeter.
In no particular order, here is a list of our favourites – we’ve included some local WAHM (Work At Home Mums) too! (And if you discover a new shop on this list, please so let them know where you found it – the good karma faeries will love you.)
The Thrifty Stork
Online and at various pop up shops around Exeter and Topsham. Retailer of organic baby and children’s clothes, maternity and nursing wear.
Jelly Children’s Charity Shop
Not far from the High Street and full of amazing bargains on clothing up to pre-teen, toys, books, cots, prams, bedding, real nappies etc. Regular “jumble sales”. All profits go back to Exeter Community Initiatives who manage several of the Children’s Centres in Exeter.
148-149 Fore Street
This is a smaller branch but has very lovely and helpful staff. Sells a range of clothing (including Little Bird), prams, car seats, cots/bedding, Early Learning Centre toys, books, baby carriers, maternity and nursing wear.
Unit 10-12 Guildhall Shopping Centre
JoJo Maman Bébé
Small but crammed full! Very friendly staff. Clothing, maternity wear, toys, books and new baby gifts plus a small selection of baby carriers. In particular we love their wellies and waterproof trousers – essential for forest school!
25-26 Gandy Street
Totally rammed and hard to get around but an Aladdin’s cave of pre-loved baby and children items. Clothes, toys, books, cots, prams, stairgates, ride on toys, car seats, you name it, they’ve got it. Please call for opening hours as they do vary.
57 Buller Road, St Thomas
Pushchairs, highchairs, prams, cots, buggies, car seats, general baby equipment and baby furniture. They also offer a free payment plan.
7 Paris Street
Offers a small selection of both new and pre-loved baby and children’s clothing, mostly high end. Also a range of new baby gifts plus all sorts of gorgeous items for mum, dad and the house.
53 Magdalen Road
Not really a children’s shop as such but they do have a small range of wooden toys (hard to find in Exeter) and musical instruments plus Barefoot Books. And they are lovely! Worth popping in if you are in the area.
19 Magdalen Road
Dingles, Debenhams and John Lewis all have baby and children departments, stocking the usual range of clothing, toys and equipment. Differing levels of friendliness and knowledge from staff.
