Water Babies Devon & Somerset are excited and proud to announce their sponsorship of Exeter’s Family Favourite Awards. These prestigious prizes, created by Exeter Baby Activities, recognise those businesses, voluntary organisations and individuals who go that extra mile to make Exeter a vibrant and exciting city for families.

Water Babies Devon & Somerset has been teaching babies and toddlers to swim in the Exeter area for nearly 11 years.  Rowan Bradford and her partner Lee Perkins bought the franchise in February 2012 after attending Water Babies classes in Bristol.  Today their team teaches 960 babies and toddlers to swim each week in classes across Devon & Somerset.

Rowan said of the Awards launch, “We are thrilled to be the main sponsor of these new Awards.  Exeter is a super city for bringing up a family and we want to help recognise and celebrate the part that local businesses, volunteers and community groups play in making it such a great place.“

Commenting on sponsoring the Awards, Rowan continued, “Quality and customer service are at the heart of everything we do at Water Babies, so it means a lot to help celebrate other individuals and organisations who exemplify these characteristics. Arabella at Exeter Baby Activities has done a great job in setting-up something that will shine a spotlight on those who put energy and love into making our city a wonderful place for children.”

About Water Babies

Since it was founded in 2002, Water Babies has grown into the world’s largest baby swim school, today teaching more than 48,500 babies every week through a network of around 70 family-run franchises. Water Babies employs over 850 staff across the UK, Ireland, The Netherlands, China, New Zealand, Canada and soon Germany.

Having fun and enjoying the water is the primary aim, delivered via highly structured lessons. By 30 months most toddlers will be confidently swimming distances underwater, progressing to swimming naturally on the surface, as their strength increases. The second objective is to help instruct carers to teach their babies to swim, so equipping them with a potentially life-saving skill plus access to a wide range of aquatic sports and activities in later life.

Water Babies is the world’s largest producer of underwater images of children, to date 250,000. In 2015 alone more than 100,000 individual underwater shots were taken by its skilled photographers

In June 2014 Water Babies featured on ITV’s Secret Lives of Babies.

Water Babies is committed to a long-term policy of Corporate Social Responsibility.  To date, with the generous participation of its UK franchises in ‘Splashathon’, it has helped raise £2m over 6 years. This has helped support and fund the charity Tommy’s, with its research into pregnancy problems such as miscarriages and still births as well as providing pregnancy health information to parents.
